Looking for RELIABLE Home Theater Guru (Altadena, CA)
I am looking for a reliable home theater guru to help me fix my current system, locate/build me a reliable media server/blu-ray player, and work with me on upgrades/home integration moving forward. My home theater is decent: Sunfire Amps, Triad Gold & Silver in-wall speakers, Stewart Screen, Integra DTC 9.8 processor, PS3 player for Blu Ray. Nothing to fancy or cutting edge. We use a separate B&K for our upstairs LR system, that also is connected to our whole house audio system (wall keyboards in most common rooms).
First the fix: I have an Integra DTC 9.8, 2007 model, still under warranty, with early version firmware, that has never performed right & now I believe has crapped out altogether as the sound won't play. It has never worked well---if I don't use it on a regular basis (monthly), I usually have to reset some of the inputs/settings. I used to think it was b/c of a compatibility issue with my Harmony 1000 remote, which would usually die if not always plugged in, but it has gotten worse & now I think a board has gone bad within. I need someone who is experienced with Integra, or higher-end Onkyo, and can do a firmware upgrade on-site (no direct DSL access to rack). If the problem isn't fixed by a firmware upgrade we'll warranty the damn thing & probably move on with a new processor or even an integrated unit. B/T this & its predecessor (a Marantz processor), I'm done with finicky processors that always need adjusting. I just want it to work, hassle free.
Secondly I want to buy/build/locate a reliable media server that will also double as a blu-ray player (with speed & processing comparable to the PS3). Netflix streaming capabilities a must (so you need to be able to run cable down to the rack & tie in with the house DSL). Once the media server is working, I want to be able to integrate the server into the whole-house system, so we can utilize the server in the main common rooms & master bedroom.
Lastly I want to integrate an outdoor camera system + plan for an outdoor audio system by our soon-to-be built pool.
So, if you have the skill set to do the above, beginning with a full understanding of the Integra DTC 9.8, including firmware updates & fixing/troubleshooting/programming it, please give me a call to discuss further. You must have references & preferably be affiliated with a solid local HT vendor/retailer. I'm not looking for someone who installs equipment purchased at Best Buy, but neither am I looking for someone who wants to sell me a ridiculously expensive new system. We are going to work within the parameters of what I have & a reasonable budget. If you can do the above, I look forward to hearing from you anytime on Saturday or Sunday.
